The Powdered Glass Frog is a stunning arboreal amphibian native to Central and South American rainforests. Named for their translucent belly skin that reveals internal organs, these delicate frogs are best suited for experienced keepers who can provide precise environmental control. Housing requires a tall, humid terrarium (10–20 gallons minimum) with live plants, cork bark, and vertical space for climbing. Maintain temperatures between 65–75°F with high humidity (80–90%) using a misting system or humidifier. These frogs drink from leaf surfaces and require consistent moisture. Feed appropriately-sized insects including fruit flies, small crickets, and springtails. Juveniles eat more frequently than adults. Avoid handling; their delicate skin is sensitive to oils and bacteria. These frogs are primarily nocturnal and benefit from a 12-hour light/dark cycle. Powdered Glass Frogs are best kept singly or in pairs. They are quiet but may produce soft calls during breeding season. With proper care, they can live 10–15 years in captivity.
