The Peruvian Pink Toe Tarantula (A. urticans) is a striking arboreal species prized for its vibrant pink coloration and docile temperament. This juvenile is an excellent choice for intermediate keepers seeking an engaging, long-lived companion. House in a tall enclosure (12"×12"×18" minimum) with vertical space for webbing. Maintain 70–80°F and 75–80% humidity using a moisture-retaining substrate and regular misting. Provide cork bark, branches, or artificial plants for climbing and web anchoring. Feed appropriately-sized insects (crickets, roaches) every 7–10 days. A. urticans are generally calm and slow-moving. They are prolific webbers and will create elaborate retreats. Lifespan: Females live 12–15 years; males 3–6 years.
