The Guarani Giant Tarantula (G. grossa) is a robust, fast-growing species prized by experienced keepers. Native to South America, these impressive tarantulas can reach leg spans of 5–6 inches and live 12–15 years in captivity. Housing: Provide a terrestrial enclosure with 4–6 inches of substrate (coconut husk or peat moss) for burrowing. A 10-gallon tank or equivalent works well for adults. Maintain temperatures between 72–78°F and moderate humidity (70–80%). Feeding: Offer appropriately-sized prey (crickets, roaches, etc) every 7–10 days. Juveniles eat more frequently; adults may fast for weeks between meals. Temperament: G. grossa are generally docile but can be defensive when threatened. Handle with care and respect their space. Water: Provide a shallow water dish or keep substrate slightly moist in one corner. This species is ideal for keepers with some tarantula experience.
