West Indian Leopard Geckos(A. fuscus) are hardy, ground-dwelling geckos native to the Western regions of India and reaching some parts of Pakistan. Females like this individual are typically docile and make excellent pets for both beginners and experienced keepers. Provide a 20-gallon breeder tank or larger with a warm hide (88–92°F) and a cool hide (72–78°F). These geckos are primarily nocturnal and benefit from a 12-hour light/dark cycle. Feed juveniles every other day and adults 2–3 times weekly with appropriately-sized insects: crickets, dubia roaches, and mealworms. Maintain humidity between 60–70% with regular misting. Provide fresh water daily via a shallow dish or misting. Handle gently and infrequently to minimize stress. West Indian Leopard Geckos can live 15–20 years with proper care, making them a long-term commitment.
