The Caribena versicolor, commonly known as the Antilles Pink Toe Tarantula, is a stunning arboreal species prized for its dramatic color transformation throughout its life. Juveniles display vibrant blue or green coloration, gradually shifting to pink, orange, and burgundy hues as they mature—a mesmerizing process that captivates keepers. These tarantulas thrive in vertical enclosures with ample height for web-building and climbing. Maintain temperatures between 70–80°F with moderate humidity around 75–80%. Provide a substrate layer of 2–3 inches, along with cork bark, branches, and live plants to encourage natural webbing behavior. Caribena versicolor are generally docile but can be defensive when threatened. Handle with care or observe from a distance to appreciate their beauty without stress. Feed appropriately-sized insects, crickets, roaches etc, every 7–10 days for juveniles and every 10–14 days for adults. With proper care, these arboreal jewels can live 12+ years in captivity, making them a rewarding long-term investment for experienced keepers and a spectacular display piece for any collection.
