The Salmon Pink Bird-eater is a large, robust tarantula native to Brazil, prized by keepers for its impressive size and striking coloration. Females can reach leg spans of 10+ inches, making them a commanding presence in any collection.
This species thrives in warm, humid conditions with temperatures between 75–80°F and moderate humidity around 60–70%. Provide a deep substrate for burrowing—they are opportunistic diggers and appreciate the security of a hide. A 20-gallon long enclosure works well for adults.
Lasiodora parahybana are generally docile and handleable, though they can be defensive when threatened. Feeding is straightforward: juveniles eat insects weekly, while adults do well on appropriately-sized prey every 7–10 days. They are long-lived, with females reaching 12–15 years in captivity.
This is an excellent choice for intermediate to experienced keepers seeking a large, hardy species with personality and longevity.
