Tarantula - Tliltocatl schroederi - Mexican Black Velvet

The Mexican Black Velvet tarantula is a stunning terrestrial species prized for its deep, velvety black coloration and docile temperament. Native to Mexico, Tliltocatl schroederi makes an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced keepers seeking a captive-bred, healthy specimen.

This species thrives in a warm, humid enclosure with plenty of substrate for burrowing. Females can live 12-15 years, while males typically live 3-6 years. They are generally calm and slow-moving, though they will defend themselves if threatened. Feeding on appropriately-sized insects, they grow to a leg span of 5-6 inches at maturity.
